A Clean, Well-lighted Place Question

Author's Note- This is a short response that I could turn into an essay.  I am responding to a question from the short story "A Clean, Well-Lighted Place."

Question - 3. Write a brief analysis of the two waiters.  What do they represent about life?  What does the café symbolize?

I think that this means that there are two main sides to a humans mind.  You have the greedy young one that wants to go home and you have the patient older one that is okay about the man staying.  The man would represent the problem.  And finally the café would represent the human thoughts.  When the young waiter tells him to leave he is just thinking about himself, trying to get home to see his wife and kids.  This was a life story and it depends on how you deal with the situation in order to make the right choice to be a “well-rounded” person and not self-centered.  You need to think about others before yourself or the situation will be not as you expect.
