Character Analysis

Don't be like me

Author's Note-This is a letter from Haymitch to Katniss and Peeta.  It was a Character Analysis piece.  I am trying to work on transitions because this was pretty hard to put together.

Dear Katniss and Peeta,

I need to talk to you about something.  This will probably be the only letter that you will receive from me, comma, ever.  It is only my third letter I have written ever and I can tell you now, I'm drunk, very.  I will tell you what happened with my life and I don't want you to drink.  So if you are right now stop and read.  I need to help you get through the hump that you just got over during the Hunger Games.

I was scared just like you, but what could we do?  If any other 17-year-old from district 12 went to fight with 22 other people, I'm pretty sure only the strongest would be the best candidate.  I believe those very candidates was you two.  I could tell you wanted to get out of there.  Sadly I couldn't do anything.  The gong banged and the games were on.  After that I stopped drinking.  For once I actually did my job.  You two were the best chance I have ever seen come out of district twelve.  I may have possibly ruined it for every single other tribute from district twelve but because of drugs I got to carried away and didn't care anymore.

But now what to do?  Go back home where you can die from practically anything.  He now has to guide any all of the rest of the district twelve tributes, that won't win.  Apparently this is the job for the rest of my life.  I needed to find an escape route.   But I will not allow you to do drugs or drink.  I promise I will at least try to cut down on my drinking problem.

Goodbye, Haymitch
