Cause and Effect

Just One Spark

Author's Note- This piece is based on the second book in the Hunger Games trilogy Catching Fire.  I am trying to get a nine or higher in the reading skill and a 90 or higher in the writing skill.

A "Quarter Quell" that ends in disaster, another spark.  Peetas gone and likely killed, another spark. A revolution has started but no one can do anything to stop it even though they started it.  In the book Catching Fire just two young people named Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mallark have started a flare that can only be disputed by war.  Something that the capitol of Panam has been trying to avoid this whole time.

Right after Katniss Everdeen, a "scapegoat" from district 12 of Panam, has now finally getting use to her new house with her family.  After winning the hunger games last year she now has to take a victory tour to all of the districts giving speeches.  The capitol is furious with Katniss ever since she pulled the "love trick" on them forcing the capitol to have two winners of the hunger games.

Now Katniss is in the games again with Peeta, the capitol is determined to only have one winner.  She teams up with a couple other people in the arena and now one of them found out that every disaster that has happened to Panam within the districts will happen in the arena.  It's like a clock where each strike will happen at a specific time.  Katniss learns this right before the man dies but instead of killing other contenders with the lightning she redirects it and breaks the force field holding the contestants within the arena.

She is knocked out instantly with a temporary paralysis.  Katniss along with all of the remaining contestants are transported by hovercraft to district 13 to let no other disasters happen within the arena.  The reform against the capitol is heating up quickly.  And now that innocent people that have already won the hunger games are dead because of a trick that they didn't think would go that far.  Katniss and Peeta were only trying to play a game against the capitol and now people are dead because of it.

The capitol is now on their way to district 12.  The reform has not ended though.  It is still barely at a flare from the match.  After the Quarter Quell Katniss learns that the people of district 13 could have survived in these underground bunkers that would make great homes.  As she is finding shelter, district twelve is being bombed, now there is a great blazing fire waiting to explode.
